Piazza Navona is one of the most famous squares of Rome. Its shape is that of an old stadium, and was built in monumental style at the behest of Pope Innocent X Pamphili family.
The square hosts a market that over time has become traditional for the city.The its distinctive oval shape is directly inspired by the ancient stadium of Domitian perimeter of the underlying. Built by the emperor Domitian before 86 AD, the stadium was used for racing and gymnastics, along with a neighbor to Odeon for musical performances and competitions, came to constitute a real sport-cultural complex
For almost one hundred years in Piazza Navona know celebrates the Epiphany
Since the beginning of December, the splendid square is transformed into an open market, where stalls are traditionally aimed at children.
